Meet Camden.

Camden Hughes

Founder of Jazz Cat Academy

The founder of Jazz Cat Academy, Camden Hughes has over 25 years of experience as a jazz pianist and multi-instrumentalist. The son of two music teachers, Camden started playing jazz piano and jazz trombone in the mid-90s. He has a B.A. in Music Education and Music Theory from Northwest Nazarene University, and a Master's degree in Music Business from Berklee College of Music.

Camden is a veteran music teacher, teaching jazz as an adjunct at the college level at his alma mater, Northwest Nazarene University, since 2007. He has spent 14 years teaching music in K-12 public and public charter schools in Idaho, teaching both band and elementary music. He spent 9 years teaching at the Great Basin Jazz Camp.

Camden is also the founder of another jazz education website, LearnJazzStandards.com, which he started in 2010, and operated with his business partner Brent Vaarstra until 2016.

Camden and his wife Cara have 3 young children, and two Corgi dogs.
